Dearest darling, you don’t find balance; you create it. Chaos, anxiety, fear, and stress are not normal. But rather, inner peace, a vision for your life, surrounding yourself with people who accept you, and having people you love are normal. Africa is the perfect place to find your normal again and re-establish your baseline to operate from a place of self-love, self-respect, and self-honour. We've listed our favourite places to connect with yourself again, from vast open spaces to protected forests.
Sapphire, topaz, and tanzanite… The oceans that wrap around Africa and her islands shimmer like diamonds and precious stones in every shade of blue you can imagine! Our beaches are Condé-Nast-worthy, blanketed with champagne-coloured silky sand beaches, dotted with humongous granite boulders, sheltered by mountains, and some adjacent to lush forests, giving us major Tarzan vibes.
From Cape Town’s trendy beaches (think fancy cocktail bars and Lamborginis) to the Indian Ocean Islands, there will be a place under the sun to match your vibe. The swooshing whispers of the waves are soothing and will gently rock your soul to calmness.
The crystal-clear water of the Indian Ocean will wash your worries away
No problem! Rwanda is home to some of our favourite rainforests. They're well-known for tall trees, misty mountains, splashing waterfalls, gorillas and monkeys, and ultra-luxe accommodations. You can also head down to South Africa and spend time in KwaZulu-Natal, a province decorated with majestic mountain ranges, deep trenches, dense forests, stunning beaches, and amazing wildlife. The Garden Route is also a favourite!
We love forests because they're so quiet. You'll wake up to birdsong and see light filter through the trees. It's as if they're protecting you from the world’s chaos until you're ready to go out there and live the life you want to build. Forests also create a calm environment for practising mindfulness and meditation.
You'll find silence and solitude in Africa’s forests
If “the middle of nowhere” is more your thing, honey, take your pick. From the vast open plains of Tanzania to the remote deserts of Namibia, we can take you to far, out-of-reach, remote places.
Tanzania’s plateaus are dotted with trees and herds of wildlife. Their lives are not simple, but they are simplistic. Live here, and live now. It makes you re-evaluate your life and reconsider what you allow in. It’s the perfect place to remove yourself from distractions and enjoy the simplicity of a "silent" safari.
Namibia is one of those places where you remain in awe and just go “wow”. You stand there speechless at the sheer beauty of the landscape. Untouched and raw. Even your mind gets quiet. The night sky will blow your mind, so we highly recommend a star sleepout to create moments of solitude and wonder.
Get a new perspective on life from a hot air balloon
Creating your balance is not just about removing chaos but adding peace and self-love. If you just remove elements without adding something, you'll be left with a void.
So, be sure to fill yourself with goodness and find a space where you can think clearly. Rest assured that our Travel Experts will book you into LGBTQ-friendly retreats. Let’s plan your luxury African escape.
