Singita Sweni might be the little sister of Singita Lebombo but it’s no less opulent. The lodge is situated on the banks of the Sweni River.

Like Singita’s Lebombo Lodge – the bigger and bolder twin up the hill – Singita Sweni Lodge offers five-star luxury in a contemporary space that celebrates the African wilderness. Dark wood, flashes of green and plenty of open spaces make the lodge a self-reflective escape into another world.
Surrounded by the riverine forest of the Sweni river, the six luxurious suites hint at an Asian influence with low-slung furniture, mahogany browns and chunky dark wicker-work spruced up with lime-coloured cushions.
The mood is dreamy, the food is fantastic and the setting is sublime; hotel-like facilities – health spa, gym, library, wine cellar, swimming pool – complete the package for a luxurious, intimate lodge in the African bush.
Game-viewing is best in the dry end of winter but Sweni Lodge comes into its own during summer – when tremendous thunderstorms swell the river and the lush trees turn the light into myriad shades of iridescent green. The canopy closes in and the evergreen escape is complete.
Wildlife is rife in the valley and the rangers claim it to be the most densely populated region in the Kruger; the river creates excellent bird-watching opportunities from your private deck. Elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra, antelope and lesser – though no less fascinating – creatures fill the N’wanetsi and Sweni floodplains and the mountains of the Lebombo Hills.
