Savute Safari Lodge is intimate, accommodating only 24 guests in cool thatched timber and glass suites. All suites feature en suite bathrooms, large windows and the odd splash of incongruous primary blue and some interesting pattern choices. The main lodge is a double-storey timber and thatch construction with dining room, fire-lit lounge, library, bar and an upstairs viewing deck overlooking the waterhole.
Burnished African sunsets from the viewing deck at Savute Safari Lodge are turned into an occasion. Game viewing is a passing parade as the large herds of elephant, migrating zebra and wildebeest, prides of lion and stealthy hyena all vie for your attention. In addition to massive plains herds, the birding and general game-viewing in the Savute region is spectacular.
Several permanent waterholes attract a variety of animals and you’ll run out of fingers and toes at any one time. Morning game drives stop in at the waterholes and scour the massive expanse of wilderness for predators, big game and lesser-known fascinating creatures.
The Savute channel is famous for its large numbers of elephant and the on-going feud between the lion and hyena; leopard, cheetah and wild dog also join the foray but mostly they leave each other alone and stick to the business of hunting smaller animals.
