For a wildlife safari that you won’t see on the Discovery channel, take a detour on Route 62 and visit Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Klein Karoo – a land of stark beauty and fascinating detail.

The reserve offers three five-star accommodation options, all intimate and exclusive galaxies away from the humdrum. Children are welcome and there are several special activities for them to get involved in too…

Stay in either Sanbona Dwyka Lodge – a tented safari camp, Sanbona Gondwana Lodge – a family lodge with twelve spacious suites, or Sanbona Tilney Manor with its large open-plan suites with private verandas that overlook the surrounding mountains and plains.

On game drives and bush walks with friendly, experienced guides, you may see lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, large and small antelope, zebra and wildebeest; small game such as jackal, caracal, aardwolf and hyena provide fascinating side shows to the main act. Sanbona is one of only two places in the world where you can see free roaming white lion… It’s worth the visit just for that.

You can also enjoy bush walks, bird watching, relaxation retreats, trips to see the rock art and inspiring stargazing expeditions. You’ll be spoilt with a safari experience that’s not too far from the city of Cape Town and other great sites.
